Parshas Tazriah - Metzorah Summary
- We learned in this week’s parsha that we need to give a baby boy a bris when he is 8 days old. We acted out a bris. Each child had a different job and we had kvatterin, sandek, sandek me’umad, mohel and the baby's parents. We had a chair for Eliyahu Hanavi and our seudas mitzvah was lunch!
- We learned about the karbanos a woman brings when she has a baby. She brings a sheep and a bird, unless she doesn’t have money to afford a lamb. Then she brings 2 birds.
- We learned about tzara'as. A person gets tzara'as because he spoke lashon hara.
Clothing and houses can also get tzara'as as a warning that if they don’t do teshuva, they may get tzara'as . The Rebbe says that a kohen was the one to make them pure, because a kohen symbolizes ahavas yisrael. The bracha by birchas kohanim ends off with באהבה - b'ahavah (with love). So he’s showing the person that got tzara'as that he should have ahavas yisrael and do teshuva for saying lashon hara. Sometimes people would find a treasure when they would break down the walls of the house that had tzara'as that the previous owners had hidden there.

Here is the list of jobs. We had the students bring in props for their given job. We wrote the name of each job on labels and each kid wore their label.

Speaking badly of others is not a kind act
For once you hurt someone, you can’t take it back
As punishment for lashon hara a terrible deed
The sickness of tzoroas, was then decreed
If a white spot was found on the body or neck
A man had to go to the kohain to check
If it was tzoraas beyond any doubt
From the camp of Yisroel, he had to go out
Seven days completely alone were spent
For the things he did wrong, he had to repent
If his t’shuuah was honest and real
At the end of the week he was totally healed
In eight more days if his skin was still clear
After bringing korbonos and serious prayer
He then returned to his family and friends
And was careful not to speak lashon hara, again
