Parshas Bereishis - 6 Days of Creation

It has beautiful full color art for each day of creation and Adam and Chava puppets. It also includes coloring pages for each day of creation.

Parsha Summary

We learned that before G-d created the world, there was nothing. We learned about what was created on each of the 6 days of creation. We discovered different ways to make the numbers on our fingers. Some of the children were able to make different finger combinations using both hands. G-d created the world for us so that we can do good deeds/mitzvot.

We learned about Adam and Chava (Eve) living in Gan Eden (The garden of Eden) and about the Eitz Hada'at - Tree of Knowledge and the tricky snake.

Every week we are going to make a picture of what we learned in this week’s parsha, and at the end of each book of the Torah, we will bring it home.

Parsha Drawing Journal

Every week, we draw a picture of the parsha (I always did it before shabbos party after reviewing the parsha of the week) and send it home at the end of the Chumash. I love that the children get to tell the story of the parsha in their own words. It is remarkable to see how much their handwriting and drawing skills improve from the beginning to the end of the book.

Bereishis Song

Click here to listen to the song.

B'yom rishon there was light
Hashem created day and night,
B'yom sheini from the Torah we know
The shamayim showed

B'yom sh'lishi the earth and seas
Flowers, grass and all fruit trees
B'yom r'vee'ee, moon stars and sun
To bring light for everyone

And on yom chamishi
Birds that fly and fish of the sea
B'yom shishi, Hashem did create
Animals, Adam and his mate

Yom sh'vee'ee, Hashem's day of rest
Shabbos kodesh, we love best
Hashem made the world and to show it's true
The Mitzvos of Shabbos we do

Another version of the song:

Hashem created the world so fine

He did it all in six days time

How did He do it? What did He do?

On each day He made something new

On Yom Rishon the dark and light

Hashem created day and night

On Yom Sheni up very very high

Hashem created the big blue sky

On Yom Shlishi the rivers and the seas

And from the earth grew grass, flowers and trees

On Yom Revi'i the sun so bright

The moon and stars just for the night

On Yom Chamishi the fish in the seas

And up above were birds and bees

On Yom Shishi big animals and small

Adam and Chava most important of all

On Yom Shabbat Hashem did no more

And we know what this day is for

A day for us, as a rule

To rest, learn Torah and go to shul!
