Vayakhel-Pekudei Parsha Summary
- VAYAKHEL - We learned about how Moshe told the Jewish people to build the mishkan. The Jewish people brought so many donations, Moshe had to tell them to stop bringing. Hashem commanded the Jewish people to not build the mishkan on Shabbos even though the mishkan was such a holy place. We spoke about some of the 39 melachos (types of work) that we aren't allowed to do on shabbos.
- PEKUDEI -We learned that the only thing left to make was to sew the bigdei kehunah - priestly garments. It was time to set up the mishkan. The beams kept falling down, until Moshe set them up. Moshe only had to touch them and they stood up on their own.

We adapted the book “Shabbos, Shabbos I Love You” (Hachai publishing) and made our very own rhymes (with a little guidance from the teacher) and illustrated a page in the book. We were very excited to bring it home!
Here are some examples we came up with:
- Shabbos, Shabbos, I love you
I wear my special Shabbos shoe - At the Shabbos table I love to sing
Eat, candies, stuff that I make and everything! - I’m happy as can be
Cuz when Tatty goes to Shul, he goes with me! - Shabbos, Shabbos, I love you
Cuz going to Shul is the thing to do - Muktzah toys
Are things that make noise - Shabbos, Shabbos, I love you
On Shabbos you don’t play with glue
