This post contains affiliate links. This week we begin our Journey Around the World. We are starting with Australia.  We got on our airplane, made the very long journey and stamped our passport.   Check out my  previous post  for the passport and stamps that we used. This week we delved into learning about some of the animals native to Australia. We talked about marsupials and learned that there are many different ones in Australia. We loved reading about them, seeing pictures and watching videos of them in the wild. We also loved creating them by drawing or crafts. We've been talking about them all week at the dinner table. We now feel like we want to hop on a plane to see them for ourselves. These are the main animals we focused on: Kookaburra Kangaroo Wombat Koala Dingo Platypus Here are links to the resources we used. Be sure to check out my Pinterest  board with more ideas. Parshas Noach Summary Hashem wanted to bring a mabul on the world because the people were not acting the way they should. Noach built a teiva and it took him a long time to build. Hashem wanted the people to ask Noach why he was building it so that they’ll do teshuva, but instead the people just laughed at Noach. From this we learn that we should always stand up and do the right thing even if it’s not so popular, just like Noach did! We learned what was on each of the Teiva's 3 floors, how many animals of each kind went into the teiva, and that the mabul lasted for 40 days. We learned about how Noach sent out the dove to see if the world was dry enough to come out of the teiva. Hashem sent a rainbow as a sign that He will never destroy the w

Journey Around the World

In homeschooling my 5 year old, we will be learning and exploring different countries. I will be documenting this learning journey and I will link the resources I am using.  Our first country will be Australia. I'm not sure how long we will spend on each country. We will learn about the culture, the animals, the food, notable places and anything that interests my child. We will cook and create the authentic foods of the country we are learning about. To start with, we made a passport that we will use as we travel to the different countries. We will place a stamp for each country we visit. For the passport, I used the free printable by  ArtsyCraftsyMom.com   created for www.makeandtakes.com . Here is the link  to the free printable.  For the stamps, I printed these  but I don't know if it has all the countries we will learn about. We also have a world map on the wall that we will reference.  Looking forward to sharing this journey.  Next up: Australia!
