Beshalach Parsha Summary

We heard about how Pharaoh changed his mind and chased after the yidden. The pillar of cloud guided the yidden by day and the pillar of fire at night. There were clouds surrounding the yidden protecting them from the Egyptians and dangerous things in the desert. When they got to the Red sea, some yidden started crying to go back to Egypt. Some davened to Hashem and others wanted to fight the Egyptians. Hashem told the yidden to go into the water, Nachshon ben Aminadav jumped into the water and when it reached his neck, the sea split. We heard about all the miracles that happened. There was water to drink and fruits to eat!

Miriam danced with the women with tambourines, thanking Hashem for saving them and taking them out of exile. In the desert Hashem gave the yidden man to eat. It was white and every day the yidden would take the amount they needed. On Friday a double portion fell so they wouldn’t collect on Shabbos. The man was sandwiched between 2 layers of dew. We learned that the reason we have 2 challahs on the table on Shabbos is to remember the 2 portions of man  in the desert. And one reason we have the challah covered and on a challah board is to remember how the man  was covered on both sides with dew. Dasan and Aviram tried to save the man overnight and in the morning it was full of worms. They also tried to save some to put out on Shabbos, but the birds came and ate it up. This Shabbos is called Shabbos Shira to remember that and we have a custom to feed the birds. We acted out the whole story of the Jewish people leaving Egypt and when we got through the Red sea, we danced with musical instruments.

Parshas Beshalach Craft

We created a large mural. I hung a large strip of paper along the wall. We painted the paper blue with roller sponges and we hung it outside our classroom to resemble the yam suf - red sea.
We acted out the Jewish people leaving with sacks on their backs. We went through the "sea" and then we danced with musical instruments to thank Hashem.
