Brazil - Part 1 Animals

We stamped our passport with a Brazil stamp and took a look at the Capitol on Google Maps. We learned about several animals this week and we also got to cook several authentic Brazilian foods.  The animals we explored this week are: Armadillo Anteater Jaguar Golden Lion Tamarin Next week we will delve into the Amazon Rainforest and create our own diorama.  FOOD: My favorite Brazilian food we made was Coxinha. They were absolutely delicious.  I loosely followed this recipe. For the dough I used: 2 cups flour, 2 cups chicken broth and 1 tbsp of margarine. I also added some paprika to the filling. Australia Part 1 - Animals of Australia

This post contains affiliate links. This week we begin our Journey Around the World. We are starting with Australia.  We got on our airplane, made the very long journey and stamped our passport.   Check out my  previous post  for the passport and stamps that we used. This week we delved into learning about some of the animals native to Australia. We talked about marsupials and learned that there are many different ones in Australia. We loved reading about them, seeing pictures and watching videos of them in the wild. We also loved creating them by drawing or crafts. We've been talking about them all week at the dinner table. We now feel like we want to hop on a plane to see them for ourselves. Parshas Noach Summary Hashem wanted to bring a mabul on the world because the people were not acting the way they should. Noach built a teiva and it took him a long time to build. Hashem wanted the people to ask Noach why he was building it so that they’ll do teshuva, but instead the people just laughed at Noach. From this we learn that we should always stand up and do the right thing even if it’s not so popular, just like Noach did! We learned what was on each of the Teiva's 3 floors, how many animals of each kind went into the teiva, and that the mabul lasted for 40 days.
