We spent a lot of time learning about Colombia and some ocean animals. Being that Colombia borders on 2 oceans, we delved into sharks, humpback whales and sea turtles. We really enjoyed learning about them. We learned a bit of Spanish. We cooked lots of Colombian food. Finally, we really enjoyed getting glimpses of beautiful places in Colombia.
FOOD:
We made lots of different Colombian foods. We really enjoyed trying out the new flavors. I made all these recipes.
- Huevos Pericos (Colombian Scrambled Eggs With Onions & Tomato)
- Aliños Colombianos (Seasoning Paste)
- Chuleta de Pollo (Colombian-Style Breaded Chicken Breast) This was delicious and now it's become a weekly staple.
- Homemade Arequipe or Dulce de Leche This was out of this world. We added it to homemade ice cream.
- Copycat Sazon Goya with Azafran I couldn't find this spice mix so I used this recipe to create my own and used it in various recipes. Scroll down on the link to get to the spice recipe.
- Flour Empanadas I used this recipe for the dough and filled it with chicken filling from the following recipe.
