FOOD:

I had trouble finding a recipe that had ingredients I could find but I came up with this one:
Guatemalan Buñuelos

PLACES:

• We watched a video about Mayan Civilization and Tikal National Park.
• We also learned about Volcanoes and watched some of the ones in Guatemala erupting.

• We read some beautiful books about Market Day in Guatemala.

ART:

• We made worry dolls. This was lots of fun. I bought the split clothespins and used embroidery thread I had in the house and we made lots of them, all in different colors. Follow this link for instructions.
  
  
  
  
  
  
• We learned to weave. I didn't have a loom so we learned to weave using this technique using straws. 
  
  
  
  
  
  

ANIMALS:

We already spent an extensive amount of time learning about the rainforest when we studied Brazil. Guatemala has rainforests as well.

• A new animal we learned about was the Margay. There is a video linked below where you can learn about it.
  
  
• The national bird of Guatemala is the Quetzal. We saw photos of this beautiful bird that is also on the Guatemalan flag.
